Lonely cones head to Kaikoura

Printer-friendly version

More than 120 of SCIRT’s spare road cones have marched off to help with the Kaikoura emergency effort.

The cones were part of a growing pile retrieved from Christchurch streets in SCIRT’s Lonely Cone Recall Campaign.

SCIRT Executive General Manager Ian Campbell and traffic management superviser Dave Lapthorn load cones at SCIRT that will be used to make safe the route into and out of Kaikoura.

They will be used to make safe the route into and out of Kaikoura, helping to cone off landslides and cracks in the roads for motorist’s safety.

SCIRT’s Executive General Manager, Ian Campbell, says his team is happy to help.

“It’s a great result for our lonely cone campaign to be able to recycle retrieved cones and to also help with the North-Canterbury earthquake recovery.”
