Shirley Road flood culvert - between Hills Road traffic lights and The Palms traffic lights
From 8 June, Christchurch City Council starts work on upgrading the stormwater culvert under Shirley Road, between Emmett St and Stapletons Road so it can handle higher flood flows.  SCIRT’s Fletcher team is doing this work which will take up to eight months. The larger culvert will make the stormwater network in the area more resilient and reduce the risk of flooding upstream.
Two-way traffic will be maintained for most of this project but please slow down - there are three schools in this vicinity. Parking on the road side will be removed to keep traffic two-way.

Read the work notice for the map.

See the Council media release on this.
