Update - Main Road water main burst, Redcliffs

SCIRT is investigating the cause of the burst water main which happened on Main Road, Redcliffs at around 11.45am today.

The SCIRT crew on site were repairing the road surface when a water main burst, flooding the surrounding area.

The workers immediately contacted emergency services and Christchurch City Council maintenance contractors to shut off the water supply and assist with initial response.  

SCIRT is aware some properties nearby were flooded. There are no reports of injuries. The property owners and tenants are being contacted to see how SCIRT can assist with clean up and resolving any issues.

The traffic on Main Road was not affected by the flooding and two-way traffic was maintained.

The SCIRT crew apologises to those affected by this. Crews are working hard to fix the problem.
