SCIRT (Stronger Christchurch Infrastructure Rebuild Team) is rebuilding our city's publicly-owned, earthquake damaged infrastructure:
We call this "horizontal infrastructure" because it runs horizontally along the ground. The city cannot function safely or hygienically for very long without most types of horizontal infrastructure.
Christchurch suffered unprecedented damage in the earthquakes of 2010 and 2011. Everyone has been affected because of losses and interruptions to infrastructure we used to take for granted.
As of December 2011, our entire rebuild plan is formally defined and outlined in the Stronger Christchurch Infrastructure Rebuild Plan (PDF, 1.3MB).
