A new SCIRT initiative will help ease the pressure on South New Brighton residents in the event of heavy rain and flooding.

The new storm water retention pond near the South New Brighton Bridge on Bridge Street has been especially designed to soak up any excess storm water.

The ecological pond not only looks great with native flaxes and fauna, but it will soon play an important role in protecting the area and nearby homes from storm water flooding.

The New Brighton people, tourists and the New Brighton residents association are supporting the pond and having their reserve back.
