What we are doing

  • Downer, as part of SCIRT, is repairing the earthquake damaged road, wastewater, storm water and freshwater pipes in a section of Moorhouse Avenue, see Map 1 for location of work.
  • Stage one will start during the week starting Monday 21st November.
  • Stage two, three and four will start on the completion of the previous stage.
  • Due to the poor ground conditions in this section of road an extensive full road reconstruction to a depth of 850mm is needed. This involves digging out the road and building up a strong resilient base.
  • Work will be done in stages to maintain a minimum of two lanes of traffic in both directions on Moorhouse Avenue at all times.
  • Stage one and two will be on the north side of Moorhouse Avenue.
  • Stage three and four will be on the south side of Moorhouse Avenue and will start in the new year.
  • Work is subject to favourable weather and on-site conditions and is expected to be completed by end of March 2017.
