Governors Bay Road - Banks Peninsula - Water shut off

Printer-friendly version
Due to emergency works required to complete the excavation for the replacement of a section of water main on Governors Bay Road, SCIRT needs to temporarily shut off the water supply to your property as part of these works as follows: Friday 13 May 2016 for approximately 2 hours sometime between 10am and 4pm; Monday 16 May 2016 for approximately 6 hours between 10am and 4pm.

If you have any special needs we should be aware of, please let us know as soon as possible by phoning 0508 718 719 between 8:30am and 5:00pm, Monday to Friday.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

What to do when the water comes back on

Please turn on your outside tap and allow the water to run through the pipes for a few moments to give them a good flush.

When the water is shut off and no water flows through the pipes, it is possible for air to become trapped. When the water is turned back on the air is pushed out under pressure and can shake rust or scale from the pipe walls. Turning on an outside tap helps remove this rust and could save you calling in the plumber to clean out fittings within your house at a later date.

Fire Sprinklers

If you are the owner of a building with fire sprinklers, we recommend you notify your insurance company about the water shut off. If you are a tenant, please let your landlord know about the works.

If you run a business or process which requires a constant supply of water, you must provide your own water storage appropriate to the business or process circumstances.
